Hearing Conservation Course Description
Many workers ignore hearing protection, not realizing that most hearing loss is permanent, and that its development is so gradual as not to be noticeable until it’s too late. This course discusses the biology of the ear, the auditory nerve, and the types of damage that noise produces. It also demonstrates the wide variety of hearing protection technology available, discusses the OSHA exposure limits for continuous and brief noises, and explains the decibel scale and its exponential nature. Audiometric testing is described, and the elements of a hearing-conservation program are delineated.
